Which MU company would you choose?
Given a set of functionally-identical brain emulations, is there any reason to prefer to be emulated by one type of emulation over another?
Consider a scenario where you're faced with three companies offering brain emulation services. Each provides emulations that produce identical results on a validation test (the emulations will have the same outputs to your pre-chosen set of inputs/questions). The only differences are how each company implements the emulations and price. Each company claims that their emulations are just as conscious as you are before the procedure.
Cheap Lookup Inc, uses a giant hash table to look up the answers to the validation test. A simple interpolation scheme is used to provide inputs outside the validation test suite. The lowest price option.
Mid-Tier DeepEmulations Inc, uses multi-layer/deep neural nets to obtain the same answers.
Premium RealEmulations Inc, uses detailed biophysically realistic network models built from reconstructions of your brain cells, ion channels, synapses, etc... to obtain same answers. The most expensive option.
Which company would you choose?
As a followup, if you would choose the low- or mid-cost version how would you respond to critics who say those emulations would be not real or not conscious?
Alternatively, if you would choose the premium- version, how would you justify the added expense to your family members who are concerned about the cost relative to the mid- and low-cost versions?
